Psalm 121:5 “The Lord watches over you; the Lord
is your shade at your right hand.”
Outside of Los Angeles officials are dumping three million small black plastic balls into their water reservoir. Here’s the deal. There is a chemical in their water that can become a poisonous carcinogen but only when it is exposed to sunlight. By covering the surface of the water with the floating balls, they hope to shade it from the sun and prevent the dangerous chemical reaction. The Bible says that God is like a shade from the sun. We all go to through painful experiences in life; however, the pain isn’t toxic to our souls unless we combine it with bitterness. Like a chemical reaction, bitterness can turn suffering into a poison that destroys us from within. I hope you will reach out to God in your pain. He may not remove the suffering, but He can be a shelter that protects you in the midst of suffering. There is nothing as refreshing as being in the shade on a miserably hot day. There is nothing like knowing that when things are going tough in your life that the Lord is watching over you, and “He is your shade at your right hand and the sun shall not harm you by day or the moon by night.”
