Mark 10:51-52 “The blind man said, ‘Jesus restore my sight,’
and immediately he received his sight.”
Yesterday I was not seeing very clearly. Driving down the road everything at a distance was very blurry and fuzzy and cloudy in my right eye. Everything was clear and fine with my left eye. I thought something was wrong with my eye. I was getting ready to call my eye doctor when I realized that everything was cloudy and fuzzy out of my right eye because the lens had fallen out of my glasses. That it took me five minutes to find that out may be a sign of a bigger problem. All of us have times when we don’t see clearly and things look a little cloudy. There may be some old grudge you are holding on to that is clouding a relationship. Maybe depression has darkened your vision and reality. Maybe your ego has blinded you from seeing some truth about your life that you need to see. Perhaps you see no clear purpose for your life. Maybe you are trying to make a decision but have no real clarity as to what you should do. When my sight gets cloudy there are three things that help me – prayer, God’s word, and the wise council of mature, Christian friends. If you are not seeing clearly, perhaps you might pray the simple prayer of the blind man today, “Lord, restore my sight.” Jesus is in the sight-giving business.
