Recently Pastor Tim and I were driving through Memphis, TN following our GPS directions back home to Montgomery, Alabama when the name of a certain road caught my attention. The GPS told us to, “take the next right onto Getwell Road.” I looked up at the next sign on the interstate to see “Getwell Road” printed with the exit number. Like with many GPS devices these days, mine continuously voiced, “turn right on Get Well Road.” By now, I was amused with the spiritual lesson God was laying before me with every mile of pavement we traveled on “Get Well” Road. How many times have we needed to travel this road? How often have we longed to be made well? But also, all too often, we ignore the GPS directions and the road signs and choose to go our own way. We simply fail to exit off the busy interstates of life onto “Get Well” Road. Jesus once said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick; I have come to call not the righteous but sinners to repentance.” (Luke 5:31-32) There is a road God has paved for every sinner that will make you well. It’s not only in Memphis; it’s the very next exit off the road your on right now.
