I was privileged to spend the week with 152 children, 21 youth, and 26 adults last week at Frazer Children’s Camp. It was a great experience hanging out with the next generation of the church. Of course as a pastor it was my responsibility to deliver the messages each night and serve Holy Communion every morning. After teaching last Tuesday night on God’s promises a child was looking for me in the crowd of children. Her name was Bethany. When Bethany found me she asked if she could talk to me for a few minutes. This was not unusual for me to have someone want to talk after a message, it has happened many times before. But this was different. Bethany wanted to read me what she had read in her Bible earlier that morning. I handed her my Bible and she began to read from Job. She read Chapter 1 in its entirety and closed by saying, “I just thought you should know.” There are some deep messages communicated in the first chapter of Job. Let’s just say that God was reminding me of His promises through one of His children. Last Tuesday night, I was not hanging out with the next generation, Rev. Bethany was ministering to me in that very moment. God sends ministers to us in all sizes. Be sure not to miss the one He might send to you.
