“So the trouble is not with the law, for it is spiritual and good. The trouble is with me, for I am all too human, a slave to sin. I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate.” – Romans 7:14-15 (NLT)
Our small group is reading through Romans, and we are reading through some really tough scripture. What comes to YOUR mind when you read, “I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it.” Let that sink in for a second. Everyone in our small group is going through something. Some are very open about it, and some of us hold it closer to our chest. What matters is that we are showing up and there for each other when someone is ready to share those struggles. There are lots of reasons why people choose not to be part of a small group. The desire to be vulnerable is definitely not at the top of the list for a lot of people, and no one likes to admit when he is weak and facing struggles. However, when I am inspired the most and motivated to the point where I want to take action is when someone was open and candid and shared something that I could relate to. If you haven’t been inspired lately, or if your life is feeling static and you need to change in your life, I would challenge you to ask for help with getting connected to a small group and just give it a try.
