Tim bought a grill. It was a fancy BBQ grill that had a zillion parts and pages of directions. Midway through the assembly, eight year old Louisa said, “Daddy, you’re not doing it right.” Ignoring her sweet innocence, Tim kept working earnestly reading and searching through the bags of bolts and pieces of metal. When it came time to attach the top to the base, it wouldn’t attach. Everything was backwards. Naive Louisa says, “I told you that you were doing it wrong.” With great exasperation Tim said, “How do you know I am doing it wrong?” Louisa picks up the pamphlet of instructions and points with her finger at the completed photo on the front and says, “Because it doesn’t look like this.” We are broken. Mankind was broken and lost sight of what we were supposed to look like in our finished state. At creation, God said, “Let us make man in our own image.” We have a photo of what we are supposed to look like. Christians are under assembly and when we finish, we are to look just like Jesus. When you keep your eyes on Jesus, the life you are building will turn out just as the Maker designed it.
