Virginia is planting flowers, digging in the dirt, putting out cow manure, turning the soil, and pulling up weeds to make flower beds ready. All our money is going to the many places that sell flowers. Home Depot on Chantilly is the closest. We park at the “garden” entrance, even if we need lumber. It happens every spring. At Valentines one year, I gave Virginia a $50 Lowe’s gift card where I wrote the thoughtful and romantic words, “I Lowes you.” She wants that same Valentines present every year now. What is it about spring and digging in the dirt and planting? What is it about putting something in the ground and watering it and watching it grow? I do it with vegetables. Some people do it with Bonsai trees, others with orchids. What is it about growing things? Is there a little man in us encouraging us to plant things? YES! A Christian has CHRIST IN HIM, and Christ wants to still plant seeds of faith, to grow spiritual lives from something that was once dead. The Christ IN US desires to use our hands and feet, allowing Him to continue His work of planting God in the hearts of men and the work will not be in vain. – Dr. Tim Thompson
