Bad Haircut

Romans 8:29 “God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son.”
Virginia and I are enjoying our Financial Peace University class. We have been talking about ways to cut our spending so we can give more and save more. Virginia decided that she could give our two dogs a haircut and not take them to the groomer. She watched a tutorial on the internet, borrowed the neighbor’s clippers, and went to work. When I walked into the bathroom there was dog hair everywhere, and Charlie, our dog that normally looks like one big cotton ball was so embarrassed by her haircut that she is now hiding under the bed. I asked what happened. Virginia’s response was simply, “The dog was standing still in the tutorial.” Apparently Charlie did not cooperate with this haircut. Sometimes we don’t want to cooperate when God is trying to shape us and mold us to the person He wants us to be. We fight making changes in our lives that we know He wants to make and that we need to make. We want to hang on to our sins and walk in our own way instead of His way. We want to be shaped more in the ways of the world instead of being shaped by God’s word. God’s desire is simply to shape us along the lines of His Son Jesus Christ because He knows the more like Christ we become, the better looking our life will become. So let’s fix our eyes on Jesus, and perhaps in seeing Him we will see what we can become.
