“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7
Keri Ward, one of our Frazer members, has been called by God to the mission field. In August, if she has the funding, Keri will leave to go to Costa Rica to serve our Lord, Jesus Christ in foreign missions. I have been watching God stir in Keri’s life for more than three years. Every vacation day was spent on a short-term mission trip with Frazer. Her work as a graphic designer, while important, never seemed to fully satisfy. Her heart was always a little discontent, her heart always seemed to be looking and waiting for something else. When Keri came to me with the news that she felt God calling her into foreign missions, it was no surprise. Keri never seemed more alive than when she was on a mission trip. I said, “Pray, pray, pray, and prepare. Start walking toward the path you sense God calling you. If this is God’s path for your life, He will bathe you in peace. If this isn’t the direction God has for you, pray that God will slam the door quickly. God will let you know.” What Keri is experiencing should be the norm for all. God has a mission field ready for all of us. God has prepared a place for all of us to work making disciples for our Lord, Jesus Christ. We are to pray about our place to serve. We’re to be in constant preparation. Then we are to walk the path we sense God calling us. If we are walking inside God’s will, He will bathe us in peace.
