Many of you rely on coffee to help you wake up, but did you know there is a new brand of coffee called “Counting Sheep?” It is offering coffee lovers the opposite, coffee that actually helps you go to sleep. It’s not only decaffeinated, it’s brewed with valerian root, an herb that is supposed to treat sleep disorders. Sometimes sleep is hard to come by. Sometimes we don’t sleep well because we have a real sleeping disorder. Sometimes we just have too much on our minds. Sometimes we are filled with worry. And often times we feel guilty or bad about something we have said or done, and it just keeps us awake. I think there is a better option than taking a sleeping aid for getting a good night’s sleep. The book of Proverbs in the Bible says, “Keep sound wisdom and discretion; they will be life to your soul. Then you will walk in your way securely and your foot will not stumble. You will lie down, you will not be afraid, and when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.” Drink whatever kind of coffee you like, but it might be better for you to make a commitment to live by the wisdom of God contained in His word. The more you walk in the wisdom of God, I guarantee you, the better you will sleep.
