Every year in Albuquerque, New Mexico, drivers on I-40 are greeted by a 14-foot tall snowman. The secret of the workers who put up the giant Frosty is that they don’t wait for snow to come to this warm, southwestern state. Instead, they build with what they have: tumbleweed. Sometimes, we think we don’t have what it takes to bring joy to the lives of other people, but that is not true. The truth is, God has given every one of us gifts that we can use to serve others, and when we do, we discover joy for ourselves, as well. The secret is, don’t wait for what you don’t have; use what you’ve got to serve God and to love others. When you take what you’ve been given and use it to share God’s love with others, it’s a great feeling, even if it is a tumbleweed snowman. Every Christian has been gifted by God with gifts with which to serve Him. So don’t sit back during this New Year. Ask God to show you what your gifts are. If you are not sure what your gifts are, just go out and start loving people. In the midst of loving people, you will find joy for yourself and you will bring joy to others.
