Well, it’s that special time of year again, fall, or as I like to call it, “I can’t see the road because the sun is in my eyes.” Many of you live east of town, which means you are lucky enough to have the sun at your back on the way to and from work. Not me. It seems like every time I drive somewhere, the sun is at the perfect angle to completely impair my ability to see past its incredible glare. It’s beautiful this time of year but it sure makes it difficult to see anything else. On my drive home the other day, I had this thought: I wish my spiritual life was like this blinding sun. All too often it’s the opposite. I get so focused on the wrong things that I end up missing the light of Christ all together. I let little “clouds” like frustrations or the things I’ve seen on the news, etc. fill up my skies. Then I add in larger “clouds” like financial concerns, terrorism, Ebola or something happening to my kids. Top all of that off with the little sins we all deal with and the next thing I know, the SON that was once blinding me, seems to be completely overcome with the storm clouds of life. If you are anything like me, join me in this prayer: “Father, tune my ears to Your voice. Open my eyes to see You working in my life. I pray for your light to shine so brightly in my life that I am blinded to anything other than You and Your will for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
