READ: MATTHEW 5:14-16
I love to go to movies. I know this is probably weird, but I enjoy the fifteen minutes of previews. It is from the previews that I determine which movies I want to see in the theater and which ones are rentals and which ones I have no interest in. Clips from the movies are always the most exciting scenes: the chase scenes, the funny scenes, or the fight scenes. The previews are meant to entice you to want to buy a ticket.
As Christians, our lives are like those movie clips to those around us. Others are watching what we say, how we live, how we treat others. Folks make their decision ‘yes’ or ‘no’ for Jesus from looking at the lives of Jesus’ followers. Jesus says to us, “You are the light of the world. Let your good deeds shine out for all to see so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” In other words, live in such a way that others get a glimpse of God’s goodness, graciousness, generosity, kindness, and love. God can work miracles in the lives of others without us, but most of His miracles He works through ordinary people who reflect the light of the love of God. Wherever you are today, be light. Shine!
