King David had a great purpose in the later years of his life. He was laserfocused on one thing: building a temple for God. He said that he wasn’t going to rest and wasn’t going to sleep until he had constructed a house of worship for the Lord. He was passionate about his purpose. I love hanging around people who are passionate. I’d rather spend my time trying to restrain fanatics than trying to raise the dead. It is easier to deal with people of passion than it is to deal with people of apathy. God is always looking for people of passion. Jesus looked for people of passion. He knew that for the gospel to spread, for people to find a new life, for the church to grow, that His followers must believe and must follow with passion and enthusiasm. Maybe some of you have lost some of your enthusiasm and passion for the cause of Christ. If your fire has gone out, pray for fire. We can build buildings, have programs, create visions, do creative things in worship, but it is passion, enthusiasm, and conviction about Jesus Christ and His church that builds the kingdom and brings people to the Lord. Pray for a rekindling of the fire of enthusiasm and passion for Jesus. –Dr. Tim Thompson
