Read Isaiah 1:19
The Bible says that the Lamb of God takes away the sins of the world. The lamb–this meek, gentle animal–survives because of the shepherd. He knows the shepherd’s voice. He needs the shepherd to protect him from wild animals and to find food and water. And this dependant lamb is the animal God chose as most pleasing to himself; not a lion, a prideful fighter; not the fox with great intellect and cunning; not the practical cow, productive and of monetary value, but the lamb.
Jesus is called the Lamb of God, and God wants us to become like Jesus. He does not promise the earth to the prideful fighter, glorying in its own beauty and possessions, nor to people who are climbing the ladder by their own wits or intent on making lots of money. Instead, He says those who don’t want to live apart from Him, who know they need Him, who knows He loves them–they will inherit the earth.
Which have you valued most: the lion? the fox? the cow? or the lamb?
