Lamentations 3:25 “The Lord is good to those who wait for him…”
I have never been a good waiter. My daughter went to the hospital at 7:00 AM to have her baby. At 12:37 the next morning Lucy arrived. That was a long day for my daughter and son-in law, but it was a longer time for Pops, too. I have been waiting for 33 years for one of my children to deliver a grandchild. I was very patient. I waited patiently in the birthing room with my daughter, and when the in-laws came and wanted to see her, I reluctantly gave up my visitor’s badge and waited patiently in the waiting room. I took a few naps along the way, but all in all, I have to say, I was a patient man. That is until the baby was born. When I got word that Lucy was born at 12:37 AM, I knew that I had to wait a few more minutes while they put her in that French fry warmer thing to get her cleaned up. At 1:10, I figured that was long enough. I went to the door to get in but the lady who was the keeper of the door would not let me in. She said it would be another hour because they wanted the baby to have an hour of bonding time with the mother before visitors came in. I tried to explain to her that I was not a visitor- I was Pops. I think she had heard that before. She would not open the door. I got impatient. Finally at 2:10 they let me in. It was worth the wait. Some things are worth waiting for. The Lord is indeed good to those who wait for Him. And when I held baby Lucy for the first time, I remembered a saying I heard, “If you don’t believe in miracles, perhaps you have forgotten you are one.” – Tim Thompson, Senior Pastor
