I Peter 5:7
“Cast all you cares on Him, for he cares for you.”
Matt Carter, when he was eleven years old, was sitting with his mother in church, and they were singing “Because He Lives.” His mother leaned over and said, “When I die, I want you to bury me in a red dress, and I want that song played at my funeral.” “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.” Matt Carter said when she died that is what he did. A few weeks after her death he was on a mission trip. A boy showed up and said, “I heard you telling people about Jesus, and I want to know more.” So Matt shared the gospel, and the little boy prayed to receive Jesus. Matt said he began to get sad and wished he could call his mom because she loved to hear stories of people meeting Jesus. His grief began to hit him hard suddenly, and he prayed, “God, does she know what just happened? Does my mom know?” He looked down the road, and there was a guy walking toward him. The guy was wearing a guitar on his back. Matt talked to him and asked him if he could play. The man said he could. He asked him what music he played, and he said he played all kinds of music. Matt asked him to play a song. He asked, “What song?” Matt said, “Any song.” He pulled his guitar and began playing and singing “Because He Lives.” Matt Carter said, “I lost it. Of all the millions of songs he could have played, he picked that one right after I asked the Lord about my mom.” The question I would get you to ponder today is what kind of God does that? What kind of a God, who doesn’t just concern Himself with salvations of souls, would move heaven and earth just to minister in really small ways to a young guy who was sad about losing his mother? Our God does. The Bible is right. “Cast all your cares on Him. He cares about you.”
