Have you ever found yourself caught up in the “what-ifs”? What if I lose my job? What if my marriage falls apart? What if my child can’t seem to fit in at school? In the struggling economy of the last several years, it’s hard not to take a second look at your financial stability. As a parent, it’s hard not to be concerned about your child’s well-being. But if we truly know and trust God, then the worries and “what-ifs” should dissolve quickly, leaving a confident peace that it’s all in God’s hands. Jeremiah 29:11 is my life verse. Anytime the “what-ifs” make their way into my life, I say the key words, “He knows the plans He has for me, plans for hope and a future!” In verse 14 we see, “I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity.” God is speaking to exiles living in Babylon, but these words hold true for anyone being “held captive” by anything in his life, including the “what-ifs”. What if we all held onto God’s word without doubt and with complete certainty? That’s the only “what-if” we need.
