♣ Ephesians 6:10-18
Our little dog, Max, sleeps in bed with us at the foot of the bed on his blanket, or he cuddles up next to my wife, Ashley. Sometimes he wakes up during the night and wants to be let out. One night, he roused Ashley out of her sleep at about 3 AM, needing to go out. She took him downstairs, turned off the alarm, and let him out the back door into our unfenced back yard. To her surprise, a big ole raccoon was in the yard, and before she knew it, Max gave chase. They ran through a vacant lot next door and into a small bunch of trees. Ashley was chasing behind them in her night gown, with no shoes, yelling, “Max! Max!” Boy, I wish I had a video camera to capture the scene. Sometimes we take off into the world without the right clothes on. We run out into the world not being spiritually dressed and prepared. Paul wrote in his letter to the Ephesians to “put on the full armor of God.” We need to be sure to begin each day, carefully putting on the armor of truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God. We do this through prayer, studying God’s Word, and meditation. Is this how you begin each day? Let us be sure that when we go running out into the world, we have on the right clothes.
