I have been thinking a lot about Joseph lately, especially his dreams. Not the kind of dreams that happen when you are sleeping, but rather the dreams that God places in the heart. Joseph had what I will call a “Big, Hairy, Audacious God Dream.” The story begins with Joseph saying to his brothers, “Listen to this dream I had.” His brothers were not impressed with his dream. In fact, they became very hostile toward Joseph and his dream. At one point they plot to kill him, but rather decide to sell him into slavery. The story ends with Joseph’s dream coming true, but not before a lot of pain and suffering. God gave Joseph a dream that would one day become a reality, though not without many twists and turns. Have you ever been given a dream? I think God is still in the business of making dreams come true, His dreams. The story of Joseph is one of faithfulness. He remained faithfully enthusiastic about God’s dream for his life even though, at many points along the way, it looked as if that dream would never come true. This devotion may not be for everyone, but it is definitely for someone. If you have ever had a “Big, Hairy, Audacious, God Dream,” you know who you are. Today is your reminder to remain faithfully enthusiastic that God’s dream for you is not yet finished.
