Jesus once said, “Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.” There are two key words there, pure and heart. There is great concern for purity in our world today. We want to drink pure water, breathe pure air, and or eat pure food. I read we spent half of a billion last year on water purifiers. Contrast that with how much time we spent on moral purity. We start talking about moral purity and suddenly we are bunch of religious wackos out of touch with this modern culture where moral purity is whatever an individual has decided for himself what is moral. Frankly, I’d rather be out of touch with the culture than out of touch with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Remember that the heart is the center of things. It is the state of your heart that determines the happiness of your life. If your heart is messed up, then it affects everything else in your life. Happiness and joy are an inside job. Maybe that’s why God says in Proverbs 4:22, “Above all else guard your heart for it is the well spring of life.” Jesus knew that is what you are on the inside that determines the quality of your life. So he said blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. Ask God to help you to take care of your heart and keep it pure.
