Hebrews 4:16 says, “Let us come boldly to the throne of a gracious God. There we will receive His mercy and we will find grace to help us in our time of need.” Don’t be shy or timid in your praying today. Pray boldly; ask; seek; knock. Be persistent. If you want the supernatural help of God, boldly come before his throne. Bill Hybels told of a day when at the close of the worship service many gave their lives to Jesus and were baptized. After the service he met a woman in the hallway who was crying. He asked her if she were all right and she said, “No, I’m struggling. My mother was baptized today. I prayed for her every day for 20 years.” And Bill Hybels said, “I’m thinking, ‘and this is a problem?’ You are going to have to help me to understand.” And she said, “I’m crying because I came so close to giving up on her. I mean, after five years I said, ‘Who needs this? God isn’t listening.’ After 10 years I told myself I was just wasting my breath. After 15 years I said, ‘This is absurd.’ After 19 years I said, ‘I’m such a fool,’ but I kept praying and today she gave her life to Christ and she was baptized.” It takes courage to keep praying. But pray boldly, and in God’s time His supernatural power will be set loose.
