READ: Luke 10:27-28
I wanted to make the Easter dinner special so I planned a lovely meal and pulled out the painted ‘bird’ plates my Aunt Nancy left me. I polished silver and borrowed three round tables and white chairs from my sister-in-law. But I have sixteen coming and only 12 bird plates. So I will borrow four of my Mama’s ‘rose’ plates. I only have three crystal glasses and, if I borrow my next door neighbor’s who has 10, that will leave me three short, and none of them will match. I only have 10 forks, knives, and spoons that match, so I have to use another set and it won’t match. And honestly, I watched the movie, Mamma Mia, and every place setting at the wedding reception was different, a beautiful hodge-podge of china and, and it all looked perfect. I am afraid that mine will simply look ‘mismatched.’ While I was getting all worked up over having everything looking perfect for my guests, it dawned on me that none of that really mattered. What mattered was loving and enjoying my guests. So focus today on loving God and loving people. At the end of the day you will be glad you did.
