The older I get, the harder it seems to remember things. I am constantly looking for my glasses or my car keys or my cell phone. I get easily distracted and then forget what I was doing. Please tell me it is not just me! The other day, as I was on my way to work, I was driving through a neighborhood. I approached an intersection with a four-way stop. As I approached, I noticed something in the middle of the intersection. It looked like debris from a car bumper or fender, and I thought it was the remains from a car wreck. As I got closer, I realized that the object was a broken coffee mug, the handle still attached to a large piece of the cup but the other remains scattered and crushed. I thought about the person who probably placed the mug of hot coffee on the roof of his car to get in and then forgot it was there. Ah, there but for the grace of God go I! God knows it is hard for us to remember. Sometimes we forget about His love and His grace. Sometimes we forget about His forgiveness and His constant caring. God gives us reminders in His Word, through worship, through others, and through His creation. May we remember daily His unfailing love and how He has blessed us on life’s journey.
