You cannot win a fight with a giant by trying to use someone else’s weapons. Before David went to battle with Goliath, Saul took off his armor and handed it to David. Then he placed a sword in David’s hand. The only problem was that Saul’s armor didn’t fit, and David did not have a clue how to use the sword. He gave it all back. He realized he had to fight the giant his own way, so he took out a slingshot and five stones to face Goliath with the weapons he was comfortable using. If you are going to defeat a giant in your life, you can’t do it by trying to use someone else’s weapons. You have to determine what you have, and you have to have the courage and energy to go do battle. Sadly through the years I have met people who have tried to fight a Goliath in their life with the faith of someone else. Nothing is more futile and useless than a borrowed faith. Faith has great power – power to move mountains. But it has to be your faith. We have to have our own daily walk with God, our own personal relationship with Jesus Christ, our own sense of God’s Spirit in our life. We have to discover our own unique friendship with God. Faith has amazing power, but remember, if you are going to defeat the giant, you can’t not defeated it with someone else’s faith. It has to be your faith.
