I was using my neighbor’s rotor tiller when all of a sudden a part fell off! It just broke off. So I decided to fix it, and THEN I would tell him. So, I went to replacementparts.com and ordered the broken part. When it arrived, it wasn’t the right part. After days of searching, I was told that the company no longer made that particular part. I couldn’t find that part. So, I told him that his rotor tiller had broken. I apologized to him and I confessed that I couldn’t fix it. He looked at his rotor tiller and say, “Hey, this is no big deal. I can fix it.” But you just can’t know how badly I wanted to fix the engine before I told my neighbor. I couldn’t. When we sin, our natural instinct is to hide. We want to ‘make it right’ on our own. We don’t like that feeling of having to go to God and confess that we have messed up. The problem with sin, just like that rotor tiller was for me, is that we can’t fix it ourselves. We can’t make it right on our own without God. Remember what John says, “If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just, and He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
