READ: EPHESIANS 4:31-32
I know some people who are insult collectors. Some people collect coins, stamps, dolls—and some collect insults. Their feelings are always hurt. They never let go. They can tell you something that was said ten years ago, and they are still mad about it. They hold grudges and never forgive a wrong. The most miserable of people are insult collectors and grudge holders.
Do you know where the custom of kissing under the mistletoe came from? The Druids in northern Europe believed that the mistletoe cured lots of things including separation between people. So, when two enemies happened to meet under a tree with mistletoe hanging above them, they took it as a sign from the gods that they should drop their weapons and make peace. When the Christian missionaries moved into the area, they saw this custom as a perfect symbol of what happened to the world at Christmas. Christmas is a time for peace, a time for healing, a time for embracing one another. So when you see mistletoe let it be a sign to you from God to drop your resentment, your grudges, your pettiness, to go and set things right.
