“You have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when He adopted you as His own children. Now we call Him, ‘Abba, Father.'” Romans 8:15
Praise God, who adopts us as His children and gives us His Spirit! This past Sunday we celebrated as we baptized GeeBeeYar in a nearby waterfall. GeeBeeYar is such a joy to be around as she amazes us with her love for Christ.
Today she will travel to Myanmar for several days to visit a family member who is very ill. She is so excited to return to her village as an evangelist! Please join with us in praying for her to reach people for Christ in this country where travel by foreigners is still tightly controlled.
Last night we had a surprise reunion with a young lady from the Bible study we used to have at a sewing factory. When her factory was shut down, she had to leave and we lost contact with her. This young woman, SetNaWin, had opened up to the gospel and asked for a Bible while we were teaching her.
When we asked about her progress in the faith, she shared that she had been reading her Bible and had just experienced a powerfully answered prayer. Then she explained that she had given her Bible to her mother and shared the gospel with her! We just happened to have an extra Burmese Bible (getting these is not easy for us) so we were able to give her a new one on the spot.
These new believers are a huge encouragement for us. We thank God for letting us see this glimpse of how He works in amazing ways to spread His kingdom!
We are thankful to you as well! Your faithful prayers and encouragement have carried us through Doug’s illness. He is still not back to his full strength, but is making gradual progress. One thing slowing him down right now is a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. His bloodwork at the hospital consistently showed that his blood sugar is above normal so he is now on medication to lower it. Please continue to pray for his full recovery, and adjustment to the medicene and dietary changes.
Quick list of prayer requests:
*GeeBeeYar’s witness in her home village in Myanmar
*Doug’s (and whole family) adjustment to diabetic lifestyle
*MaLaLa (14 year old pregnant by rape) is due in early August. Her father’s surgery is this week and we will be covering the bill. Thank you for giving to make this possible as we continue to teach the whole family about Jesus.
*SetNaWin to continue in her faith, and to be able to share with others at her new factory job.
