Paul wrote “God has given each of us the ability to do certain things well” Romans 6:12 (NLT). Every one of us has God-given abilities, and we didn’t receive those by accident. He knew before we were born, who we were meant to be. He also knew what circumstances we would face in life and created us accordingly. God puts us in certain circumstances so that we can use the gifts he has given us to grow in our faith and to help others grow. Most of the orphans are victims of a very difficult set of heart-breaking circumstances, but God has equipped them with the strength they need to overcome and press on. He has also provided them with house parents, who are equipped with the ability to provide them with the unconditional love and support that they need.
As a missions team, the five of us also have unique personalities and different abilities. We all have different backgrounds, careers, and interests, and each one of us brings something special to the team. At times we may grate on each other’s nerves (intentionally or non-intentionally), but we are all here for a reason and that is to use our uniqueness to minister to the children of Lar Betania and each other.
