Jesus was busy casting our demons and healing people. There was a lot of work to do. Yet Jesus got up, left the house, went to a solitary place, and prayed. No one knew where He went.
Sometimes it is good to get lost. If you have ever had anyone tell you to get lost, those words could carry the sting of hurt and rejection. But Jesus chose to get lost. Everyone was looking for Him. He chose to be alone praying. He chose to begin His day in the presence of His Father. Jesus knew that prayer was the channel which opened up the flow of God’s power in His life. Getting lost and being intentionally alone was His time to be replenished by God and was the key to staying connected to the Father.
God is reminding us that we need to slow down and stop. Build intentional God-time in your day, praying with words or listening. Getting lost every day for a little while could save your life. People ask me all of the time how they can get to know God better and how they can grow deeper. They want to know what to read, what Bible study to be a part of, where to serve. All of those things are important. My advice is to first get lost with God every day. You will find Him, and He will find you.
