King David had obviously been going through some tough times. He had some people problems and health problems. God brought him back from the brink of death. David tells us what he learned from those tough experiences:
- “I have learned that weeping may tarry for the night (tears are temporary),
but joy comes in the morning (God was always giving him a new future).”
That is the testimony of someone who has been there…the words of someone who has been through the fire. David knew pain, hurt and sorrow. He knew what it was to be afraid, sad, alone, and hopeless. He was someone who cried himself to sleep, but in the midst of life’s most distressing times, he had learned the great truth. “Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes in the morning.”
You may hurt right now; things may look bleak and dismal; you may think your life is over; you may think you will never laugh again. Don’t quit. Don’t give in to despair. God still has a beautiful future for you. Joy will come in the morning. Someone once said that as long as there is life, there is hope. But there is a deeper truth: as long as there is hope, there is life! Hope does not minimize pain, suffering, and hurt. Hope just remembers that “weeping may tarry for the night, but joy will come in the morning.”
