Jewish rabbis have speculated that the name of God is intentionally not mentioned in the book of Esther to demonstrate how God “hides” himself in the every day course of human events. Sometimes He chooses to act in overt miracles, but even in seemingly ordinary events, God is still at work to rescue his people and bring honor to His name.
Frazer’s upcoming Bible conference, You Were Born for This with Dr. Bruce Wilkinson, is about this kind of “everyday miracle.” In his book by the same title, Dr. Wilkinson (best selling author of the Prayer of Jabez) outlines seven keys to a life of predictable miracles. These are not “parting the Red Sea” or “walking on water” type miracles, but the everyday events that combine precise timing with our willingness to serve others in Jesus’ name, at the direction of the Holy Spirit, to bring about a result that will cause people to glorify and thank God.
Many of us have experienced this type of miracle: a gift of money in a precise amount needed, in answer to prayer, on the precise day it was needed. A phone call or note of encouragement that arrives just when we are feeling the most down, from someone who could not possibly have known what we were going through apart from the Holy Spirit.
Dr. Wilkinson’s contention is that, far from being a rare occurrance, God desires to make these types of miracles an everyday event for us, and we can follow specific steps to become more conscious of and obedient to the little nudges from God that make them possible. In fact, he claims that this is precisely what we were born for—to be delivery agents for heaven’s miracles on earth.
You can learn more at the four-day Bible conference coming up on October 23-26 at Frazer. Dr. Wilkinson will be here Sunday through Wednesday, with sessions running from 2 1/2 to 3 hours each night, including breaks. Childcare is available with registration. For the best rates, sign up before the end of August. Encourage your Sunday School class or small group to sign up together.
