Read Matthew 5:4.
To mourn is to be broken. When we are broken and come before God, we are as authentic before the throne of God as humanly possible. We are real with God, seeking real help from God.
Why is it that it often takes a crisis in our lives before we look to God? Why is it that we fail to spend quality time with the One who can transform our lives? Is it apathy, indifference, carelessness, resistance, or simply forgetfulness? Maybe those who come before God humbly, broken are the ones who know true strength. Because they not only know, they experience the strength of God’s power in the midst of their brokenness. To mourn is to bring our human lives that are broken and cracked and allow the Holy Spirit to fill in the places that make us weak. There one finds comfort, but brokenness is where it all begins.
Begin this week claiming the areas where you are broken. Confess to God your sin, the cracked areas of your life. Pray that the Holy Spirit will begin to fill in those areas of weakness and make you whole again.
