Have you ever been nudged? The word ‘nudge’ means “to poke someone gently; to give a gentle reminder and encouragement; a gentle push; or to come close to.” Has God ever nudged you?
A lot of us are looking for what God wants us to do and what God’s will is for our lives. Sometimes we are waiting for God to write His plan in the sky so we can clearly see it or to hit us over the head with a two-by-four or to speak to us in a loud, clear voice that we can’t misunderstand. But is seems most often that God seems to speak to us with a Holy nudge.
Elijah was expecting God to thunder His voice at him. Instead, God spoke to him in a gentle whisper. That gentle whisper I call a holy nudge. Listen for God’s voice in the ordinary, the simple, the quiet events of every day. Make time for stillness in your day, and you just may experience and discern God’s holy nudge in your life.
