Mark Twain once talked about the day he rushed to the top of Pikes Peak to see the sun rise. He got there in time but he said, “I missed it because I was looking the wrong way.” What are you missing because you are looking in the wrong direction?
The Israelites felt stuck. They had the Red Sea blocking them in the front and Pharaoh’s army coming from the rear. When they looked around all they saw were obstacles, problems and trouble brewing. They looked down and got overwhelmed, discouraged and afraid.
Moses, on the other hand, was looking up. He didn’t see the Red Sea obstacle, he saw God’s ability to provide a way through the obstacle. He didn’t see the force of Pharaoh’s army, he saw the power and strength of the almighty God. Because he looked the right way-up-he was filled with confidence and could see the miracles of God.
Today, are you looking down in fear at the obstacles in your way or are you looking up in faith at God? God’s power is greater than your fear.
