I have to laugh sometimes when I hear people talk about eternal life like it’s this
reward they get once they die. They say things like, “When I get to heaven…” as though God had no power to change the here and now. Jesus said “I am with you always”—now, in this life. What are you waiting for? John Wesley used to encourage people that eternal life begins now for the believer. In other words, if you believe in Jesus and seek to follow Him, then you should experience eternal life, God’s kind of life, resurrection life, right now. Life ought to be different with Christ than without Him.
The moment Jesus entered your heart, life changed. You became a person of eternal life. Before that moment you were stuck in this world and death had the final say. You were a ticking time bomb of darkness. You had only your plan to count on.
But now? Now, you are abundant life, you are the very image of Christ, you are a son or daughter of God, you are eternal life. Live like it!
