God is reminding us in the Proverb that a wise person submits all of his life to Him. When He says, “In all of your ways acknowledge Him,” He means all. Every time I decide to manage some area of my life on my own, that area ends up being a problem spot for me. Whenever we hang out a no trespass sign to God, we usually make a mess. Some folks look at their career, friends, activities, and families and say, “God I know what you think about this and I know what the Bible says, but I don’t want your advice. I want what I want.” Almost always those are the areas of your life that cause you the most heartache. If we submit all of our life to God and acknowledge Him as the wise one, we reduce the troubles. Is there somewhere in your life where you are refusing God’s wisdom? I encourage you to give it to God today. You will never regret that because God promises that He will make our path straight. It doesn’t mean that God will make you healthy, wealthy, popular, comfortable, or thin. What it means is that God will give your life direction, purpose, focus, and fulfillment. So trust God with all your heart. Lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.
