Honor the Lord first with your money. I know this sounds strange. The human financial plan is earn, spend, save, invest, and if there is anything left over, give it to God and others. God’s financial plan for us is give to God first. Put God first in your finances. Give to the Lord before you spend money anywhere else in your life. Most of us assume that the more we give away, the less we will have to live on. That is just the math. But it is an unbiblical assumption.
The Bible calls us to live beyond the math, to live by faith. God promises the more you give, the more you will receive. Jesus said in Luke 6:38 “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over will be poured into your life.” What if you gave to God first instead giving to God your leftovers? Put God first in your finances. Live beyond the math! Live by faith!
