Matthew 6:25-34
Oh, how I used to hate it when one of my parents would utter the phrase, “You need to know the difference between a want and a need!” My trip to Haiti last month reminded me once again of the difference between wants and needs. The plight of the Haitian people is heartbreaking, but they are teach me a lesson.

Every time I go on mission, it redefines my wants and needs. I am amazed at what I can live without, and yet still be so happy. However, when I return, it does not take long before I settle back into the habits of my American lifestyle. The more I go on mission the more I realize how much stuff I can live without. Just look around and you will see how much frivolous stuff consumes our life. The bottom line is that we have enough money, we have enough stuff; we have enough, as today’s Scripture reminds us, of everything but the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
» How much time you we spend on your needs? (Probably not much!) How much time do you spend on our wants? (Is it too much?)
