READ: MATTHEW 7:1-5
A young couple moved into a new neighborhood. The next morning while they were eating breakfast the young woman saw their neighbor hanging the washing outside. “That laundry is not very clean”, she said. “That lady next door doesn’t know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap.” Her husband looked on, but remained silent. Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry, the young woman would look out the window and make the same comments. About a month later the woman was surprised to see nice clean wash on the neighbor’s line. She said to her husband, “Look, she must have finally learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this.” The husband said, “Well, the truth is I got up early and I cleaned our windows.” Think about that. What we see when watching others depends on the purity of the window through which we look. Before you make a judgment on somebody else, you might want to take a long hard look at yourself.
