Welcome to Frazer’s weekly feature called the Breaking Good News! Here you’ll find how your tithing and service is touching and changing lives everyday through our ministries and programs.
Children’s Ministry
This month our elementary aged children are talking about COMPASSION! The children and teachers wore their PJs to church and gave more than 100 pairs of PJs to the community! The effort to collect donated PJs ended with a party and some of the kiddos playing parts in a live nativity scene.
Music Ministry
Frazer’s music ministry takes center stage during the Christmas holidays. The Children’s choir performed with great enthusiasm during services on a recent Sunday morning; Frazer’s preschool choirs delighted their moms and dads and grandparents with their Christmas performance and Frazer’s Youth Worship Arts put on a wonderful time of song and worship during its Christmas performance, “Love Came For Me”.
Frazer Kindergarten and Mom’s Day Out Christmas Programs
The Frazer Kindergarten and Mom’s Day Out program continued its yearly tradition of putting smiles on the facers of moms and dads, siblings and grandparents. The children took the stage in Frazer’s Sanctuary for 5 performances over three days, singing the songs of Christmas! Frazer’s television ministry tapes these special performances so parents can hold onto this time forever!
Women’s Ministry Christmas Brunch
Frazer’s Women’s Ministry Christmas Brunch, this year entitled “Come to the Table” drew in several hundred women. This has become a favorite event at Frazer as the women are invited to decorate their tables according to whatever theme they choose. The decor is always beautiful and exquisitely unique. Michelle and Chip Nix served as the speaker and worship leaders. Michelle spoke on being hospitable, opening your home to friends and above all the presence of God. Chip sang a song he wrote about his mother who always showered their family and friends with loving hospitality. To close this time, the ladies came to the table of the Lord and shared in Holy Communion. Recipes were also shared for each dish served at this delicious and deeply meaningful time of fellowship and worship.
Frazer Student Ministry
Frazer’s Student Ministry held a “Frozen” Christmas party for our friends from the Therapeutic Recreation Center. It was a night of food, games, crafts, line dancing, photo booth posing and even a surprise visit from Disney characters. Students and adult volunteers spread the holiday cheer to our guests through warm hospitality and open arms. The night was capped off with a reading of the Christmas Story by a high school student. It was so fun and rewarding to watch our Frazer students love and lead like Christ!
Missions
Frazer UMC played host for the “Have a Heart for Children” Christmas event. More than 900 special needs students, caretakers and teachers crowded into Frazer’s Wesley Hall, filling the air with laughter and song. The annual event is for all special needs students in Montgomery, Autauga, Elmore and Lowndes public schools. More than 50 school buses lined Frazer’s parking lot as inside the children experienced the Christmas spirit and love of Christ.
Have a Heart for Children was founded 16 years ago by Earnestine Woods, a single lady who serves as the security officer at Brewbaker Middle School.
There were several volunteers from Frazer and across the area who came to help. Some of the guests who came to serve—Montgomery Chief of Police Ernest Finley, several police officers, Montgomery County District Attorney Daryl Bailey and several of his staff; Buffalo Soldier Motorcycle Club and several honor High School honor clubs from across the area. It was truly a very special day.
Men’s Life
Several men gathered recently to say “thank you” to a man who has led Frazer’s Men’s Ministry for the past several years. Charles Hall is handing over the leadership role to Frazer’s Adult Group Leader Charles Wise. Charles Hall has poured his heart and many hours into creating meaningful times of fellowship and worship for the men of Frazer. Some of the programs include a fishing mission, a monthly breakfast, a Christmas Pancake breakfast (December 12th!) and the popular Men’s Steak Night! Thank you Charles for your many years of service!
This is just some of the Breaking Good News happening in our Frazer Family! Stay tuned for more details of how God is moving through Frazer UMC.
