Welcome to Frazer’s weekly feature called the Breaking Good News! Here you’ll find how your tithing and service is touching and changing lives everyday through our ministries and programs.
Unchained—Celebration Sunday
Frazer United Methodist Church experienced a Celebration Sunday recently as more than 1000 people completed the 9 week Financial Peace University course. Frazer’s pastors challenged the church family to live according to biblical principles in every way, from our finances to how we love and give. Compelling cardboard testimony revealed the amazing results—those who took part in the 9 week course paid off more than a million dollars in debt during that time and saved more than two million dollars. The group also cut up 401 credit cards! The services ended with a time of prayer and dedication as the church family declared to live God’s way! Praise be to God!
Unchained—Special Operations Group
Did you know a special ops team was formed during Unchained to primarily discover new ways of blessing others? As we learned during Financial Peace University, our goal is to live like no one else, so we can live and give like no one else! This team recently took part in an experiment of generosity. Team members handed out pre-addressed-stamped envelopes with a blank piece of paper and a $20 bill inside. As they gave out these envelopes they simply said, “Will you do me a favor and take this $20 and use it to show someone else generosity, then write us back to let us know what you did with the money?” We handed out 10 envelopes and got 5 responses back! Here are a few of the responses from people partnering with us to show generosity all over our city! We never know how we may be allowing someone the opportunity to experience what generosity feels like for the first time!
Small Groups
“I have loved the blessing of my small group!”—that is one of most common responses we’re hearing from those who took part in Financial Peace University. While many participants learned to budget and save money wisely, even more said the fellowship with one another was the biggest blessing. Did you know you can get plugged into a small group anytime of the year at Frazer? Please stop by the Connection Desk and find out how! Real growth and community happens in small groups. Here are a few photos of one small group enjoying fellowship with one another! Small groups offer fellowship and fun—get in one today!
Celebrating the Frazer Family
The Frazer staff gathered recently to honor John Rogers. John is retiring as the Director of Television Ministry after 10 years of service to Frazer UMC. John worked as a general manager at various commercial television stations and had retired when he was offered the job at Frazer. He says he’s so thankful to have had this time in his life. His wife Nina, daughters Jane and Nancy and one of his grandsons, Peyton attended. Many staff members commented on how much they would miss John’s quick wit and how they admired his obvious love for his family. We wish you many blessings John!
Media Ministries
Frazer’s Media Ministries recently played host to an 8th grade student from Saint James School. Middle school student, Carson Bowen, chose to shadow this ministry as part of career week at his school. 8th graders can select 5 professions to shadow to help them narrow their choices for a career. Carson saw a lot in his three hour visit—he watched the printers running at full speed producing the church bulletin for Sunday morning; the taping of a weekly bible study on WFRZ; the editing of a video promoting the church’s upcoming Christmas program and the taping of a testimony video to be used in Contemporary Services! Welcome Carson, stop in anytime!
