Hope Inspired Ministries grad shares how she found healing through program
Ms. Shannon Alvarez
Hello, my name is Shannon Alvarez. For the past 18 years, I have been taking care of my mom. She passed away on July 26th.
When I started at Hope Inspired Ministries, I was lost and depressed. I had no will to live. Before I began classes Michael and Leanne asked me why I wanted to be here and I told them it was for my son. During week three I told Leanne I had realized I wasn’t here for my son. Even though it would benefit him, I was here for ME.
During this program we had a class called Holistic Hardware; it has taught me so many important life lessons. I really have learned from the Faith Tool. I have learned that you must never give up and to never go back. I also learned you mustn’t ever quit.
Right now I am the happiest I’ve been in a long time. I have been hired on at my internship, Heritage Baptist Child Development Center. As I continue to look to the future, I would like to see my family grow in strength and love.
I also would like to be enrolled to become an x-ray technician.
I would like to thank Hope Inspired Ministries, the volunteers, my grief counselor, Phoebe Dunn, my mentor, Linda Slauson, my internship with Heritage Baptist Child Development Center, my fellow students, and my family.
I would like to take a minute and personally thank Leanne. I had a lot of challenges to overcome and she walked with me every step of the way. I would also like to thank Ashton. Every day I would come to class she always told me how proud she was of me and when I was down she always gave me extra encouragement.
Thank you again to everyone and I will never forget any of you.
