A day at Providence and Friday Night Worship at Stella’s House
I will not make this entry very long…because quite honestly I would rather be spending time with the kids I hear outside…laughing and enjoying being loved by people from across the world. I know you guys (our followers) yearn to know what is happening here…so here are a few highlights…then I am out to play basketball with Ana, play phase 10 with Luba, Utelenza, Ana, and Stella….and just spend time loving on these kids. Because, after all that is what this trip is about…showing kids God’s love.
I am writing this entry with a full belly and an even fuller heart. Yesterday and today have been amazing days. We spent time with the kids at Providence yesterday, as you can tell from Chris’s pictures. We just got finished with a delicious dinner at Stella’s House. Before that, we led worship with the kids. They led the singing part (as we can’t sing in Romanian very well). Worship with the kids at Stella’s house is always passionate…they are on fire for and in love with our God! It’s an honor and a joy to witness and take part in worship here….I can’t put it into words…but I always feel God here. After music, Chris presented an amazing lesson on relationships…and the importance of ALWAYS remembering that our first and most important relationship is with God. With the help of a translator and our local hostess, he also answered the kids’ questions about relationships! It was wonderful and God-filled.
Earlier in the day…we enjoyed some cultural experiences in Moldova’s capitol, Chisinau (pronounced KEY SHE NOW). We spent some time at the souvenir market…and the MALLdova. ..and just hanging out with the girls at STELLAS.
As you recall we spent yesterday at Providence. The children there are amazing. Many of the children in the orphanages in Moldova are what are considered “social orphans”. This means that one or both of there parents are still alive…but chose to send them to an orphanage for different reasons (economics, alcoholism, too many children, abuse, etc). It is a sad state of things…that breaks my heart as many of you know. I will write more about this when we return.
