Have you ever had a pity party? Have you ever gotten a bad case of the ‘woe is me?’ Have you ever wondered, “Why does so much bad stuff happen to me?” Have you ever poked out your lip and pouted when you didn’t get what you think you deserved?
You are in good company. Elijah, the great prophet of God, was having a pity party. He had been doing all these great things for God, and he thought he would be rewarded handsomely. What he got was a bounty placed on his head, and he had to run and hide from his enemies. His response was to have a pity party. He said to God, “I have had enough. I am done. I am through; I give up; I quit.”
You know what God’s response was to Elijah’s pity party? God said, “Get up; go; I still have a lot for you to do.” God has a word for you when you think you are done, when you think life is over, when you think life is unfair and all is lost, and that word of the Lord is “Get up. Get going. There is still much for you to do. Much I have to bless you with, much through which to grow your soul. Get up and live.”
