Thursday has been wonderful. The orphanage is managed by Phillip Cameron Ministries, but since it still falls under government control we are not allowed to evangelize. We have been able to share our faith one on one with the kids through crafts. We made visors and painted stained glass windows this morning. Most of the crafts are set up so the kids can personalize them with their names. This afternoon we made bracelets, played with puzzles, and played outside. The kids taught us a traditional Moldovan game called belt. It is like duck duck goose, but the person who is it has a belt and tries to catch the person running. It was a little weird at first, but ended up being a lot of fun. We then taught them to play kick ball. Running the bases was a little hard to understand and their natural inclination is to kick the ball rather than to catch and throw.
There are currently less than 10 kids here, but what a blessing. We have been able to learn each of their names and have taken time to play with them one on one. If the orphanage was full it would be more like conducting a camp than developing relationships. No one is getting lost. They are expecting an influx of about 20 new children any day. The girls from Stella’s House are planning activities and lessons for them. Two gentleman from Scotland arrived this morning to help them prepare.
So glad to hear that the trip is going well! We are praying for your continued safety and time to build relationships with the kids. The pictures are wonderful. We love you guys!
