Tony Campolo reports that a study was done by a group of sociologists several years ago. They interviewed a large number of people, all over 95 years old. They asked only one question: If you could live your life over again, what would you do differently?
The most common answer given was, “If I could go back and live my life over again, I would have taken more risks.” In other words, their greatest regrets revolved around the question, “What if?”
As we continue our sermon series on “What If?,” most of us get the opportunity to ask that question before we reach 95. We can reflect on the possibilities while there is still time to do something about them.
The greatest accomplishments in the history of the world have always been associated with some sort of risk. Our lives are the same. Our finest moments will come because we took a risk: a risk to start a business, a risk to start a family, a risk to move your family, a risk to start over with a new career, a risk to go overseas on a mission trip.
God never calls you away from something; rather, He is continuously is calling us toward something. And this will most certainly include risk!
