The Psychology department at the University of North Carolina conducted an experiment where they took two rats and put them in a container half filled with water. The first container was sealed, and the rat instinctively realized there was no hope for escape. In less than three minutes, he gave up and drowned. The other container was only partially sealed, thus a possibility of escape and survival was left open. That rat swam for thirty-six hours before they finally set him free.
God knew that, in order for us to cope with the slings and arrows of this life, we would need hope. The resurrection says that no matter what happens to you, there is always a way out; there is always hope for a better future. As long as there is that hope, you can keep right on living. As long as there is that hope, you’ll keep on kicking. But without that hope, you end up drowning. Because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we are not facing a hopeless end. What we face is living with endless hope.
» Praise God today for His hope that keeps you “kicking.”
