Welcome to Frazer’s weekly feature called the Breaking Good News! Here you’ll find how your tithing and service is touching and changing lives everyday through our ministries and programs.
The Dollar Club—Flash Mobs
Have you dropped a dollar in The Dollar Club box in Frazer’s atrium? If so, you’ve already helped numerous families throughout the River Region! Recently a team of 10 people, part of the Unchained Special Ops group, met at the church early on a Saturday morning to pray before heading out to do some yard work. The team worked in the yard of Robin and Frank Pass. Robin is recovering from a health crisis that led to many bills and no time to do the everyday chores. Enter the Frazer Flash Mob! This group trimmed trees and shrubs, mowed the lawn, planted new flowers, did everything possible to help the Pass’s know they are loved and have a team of prayer warriors on their side! A neighbor joined in the work and shared with the team that he had a serious surgery coming up. At that point everyone stopped their work to gather around the neighbor to pray. You never know how your decision to serve will touch another life.
Another Frazer Flash Mob sighting—this one at the Montgomery Water Works building! Frazer’s special ops team blessed and surprised many people by paying their water bills. Frazer Outreach Director Mary Causey shares this story about the following Sunday:
“Sunday morning I was in the Fellowship Hall very early getting things ready for our team of Welcoming Ministry volunteers and a man came up to me and told me that he was one of the people that came into Montgomery Water Works during a Frazer Flash Mob. He began to tell me how he has been a member of Frazer for years, he sings in the choir, his son is in the Children’s Ministry and he has had a lot going on lately to cause him to get behind on his bill. He said it’s only because of the money we put toward his bill, he was able to get his water turned back on. We handed out stickers to everyone reading “I got Mobbed” and he said he put that sticker along with his receipt in his truck so he would never forget. He showed me a pocket journal that he keeps where he wrote the date and what happened on the day he was Frazer Flash Mobbed.”—Mary Causey
Children’s Ministry
Frazer’s preschoolers and kindergarteners are learning this month, “God will take care of me”. Using a fun pet shop theme, the children are learning to take care of all the things God has blessed us with, including sweet Gracie. Gracie (the dog) thrilled the children with a visit, even performing a few tricks. She also received lots of hugs and sweet pats from many little hands.
The Children’s Ministry took time for a special lunch after church recently to thank its many Sunday School leaders and volunteers. Each Sunday it takes approximately 40 faithful volunteers to make Sunday School and Children’s Church happen. Is this something you feel God calling you to do? The Children’s Ministry is still looking for substitute teachers as well as more helpers in Children’s Church. Parents are invited to come with their child Sunday, September 27, to see what the hype is all about! We do appreciate our volunteers!
Women’s Ministry
Women from Frazer and throughout the community gathered in Frazer’s East Sanctuary recently for a Beth Moore Living Proof Live Simulcast. Beth encouraged the women to be audacious in their walk with Christ! She shared what she calls Six Mighty Makers:
- The Audacity to make an unseen Savior the supreme romance of your life.
- The Audacity to live in the tension that comes with loving in the truth.
- The Audacity to pray for astonishing works of the Holy Spirit.
- The Audacity to forgive and live forgiven.
- The Audacity to hold tight with all your might to Romans 8:18.
- The Audacity to walk in humility!
150,000 women in 50 states and 19 countries, some on military bases or in prison, joined in this simulcast.
Men’s Life
The Men’s Fishing Mission reeled in another great day of fellowship. Frazer’s Men’s Life has a dedicated group of volunteers who take outings throughout the year to connect with some youth who may not have someone to look up to or learn from. Dewayne Rembert of the Flatline Movement joined in this most recent outing. The Flatline Movement works to let youth know they were born for greatness and when you die to Him or flatline, His amazing power bursts forth!
Sports and Activities Ministry
Are you ready for some “upward” football? The season is officially underway at Frazer UMC! Hundreds of children hit the field and the sidelines, playing football and cheering on their teams! Thanks to Frazer member Lee Werling for these great photos of opening day. Please go to the link provided to see many more.

S.P.I.R.I.T. Ministry-Older Adults
SPIRIT’s most recent gathering featured Frazer member Beverly Mullins. Many people heard Beverly for the first time in the recent Frazer’s Got Talent program. She has a beautiful, soulful voice and was gracious to share her gifts for this special night of fellowship.

CRAVE Youth Ministry
Frazer’s Life Groups for youth are meeting again after a summer break . A 9th grade girls group led by Lisa Lawrence and Dana Taunton soaked in the recent burst of fall air, by enjoying dinner at Jason’s and moving outside for their lesson and prayer time. The 9th grade boys Life Group, led by Scot Mims and Steve Rodopoulas, toughed the elements and camped out at Wind Creek State Park. A recent reunion of Kathy Boyd’s life group from years ago, reveals the impact of these small groups. The members of this life group have finished college and are starting families. Kathy said they were able to grab some time on a Sunday afternoon to catch up and support each other. Being in a Life Group is about bonding, accountability, support, studying The Word, growing closer to God and fellowship……for LIFE! Check with a CRAVE leader to get your youth involved in a Life Group.
