Welcome to Frazer’s weekly feature called the Breaking Good News! Here you’ll find how your tithing and service is touching and changing lives everyday through our ministries and programs.
Children’s Ministry
The inaugural Mom-Son Night was a huge success at Frazer UMC. Close to 200 people gathered, all moms and sons, to share in a spirited kickball game, dancing, a delicious spaghetti dinner, photo booth, great door prizes and above all, great family fellowship.
There’s always a strong focus on Daddy-Daughter time, so Frazer UMC decided to give moms and sons an opportunity for a special “date night” as well. One young participant said, “We need to do this again!” Thankful for the many volunteers to helped make this happen!
Sunday School Spirit!
1st Grade Sunday School teacher Katina Jones not only teaches her students, but loves to get them up praising and worshipping the Lord during the Sunday School hour! Children’s Ministry Director Cami Culpepper says, “I was tickled to come by her class and see them on their feet following Katina in some fun “praise moves” lifting high the name of Jesus!”
Television Ministry
Look for new episodes of One Hope and Breaking Good News on WFRZ-TV. The newest edition of One Hope will feature Virginia Thompson, wife of Frazer’s Senior Minister Tim Thompson. Virginia shares her testimony of chasing worldly accolades and all she’s learned in her personal journey, along with tips on parenting! You’ll also see a touching interview with children and moms talking about all they mean to one another. The latest Breaking Good News features summer happenings in our Children’s Ministry; how you can get involved in supporting Foster Care and Adoption through OneFamily; an update on Youth Worship Arts and a heartwarming interview from a new homeowner through Transformation Montgomery. You can see Breaking Good News at 8:30am Saturdays, 9pm Sundays and 5:30pm Wednesdays. Tune in, you’ll be glad you did.
English as a Second Language-ESL
The End of the Year Party for ESL was a wonderful event, with more than 120 people attending. The Encouragers Sunday School Class provided all of the drinks, sides, and desserts while the Frazer kitchen served delicious chopped barbecue chicken. Christy Clark and Alyssa Boyd provided the entertainment. The students received their certificates of attendance. One of the highlights was recognizing two students, Surfia Begum (Bangladesh) and Jane Alexander (India), and a volunteer Natasha Holland (Russia) who received their US citizenship this spring. This recent class included people from 19 countries and numerous faiths. Many thanks to all of the Frazer members and staff who answer God’s call in making this ministry possible.
This is just some of the Breaking Good News happening in our Frazer Family! Stay tuned for more details of how God is moving through Frazer UMC.
Thanks for the feature on ESL . We had a great year.
